Senior Accountant Role Description Page:

Role:

The accounting manager is responsible for all areas related to financial reporting for firm clients. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. The accounting manager supervises the accounting staff and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities, including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, etc. The accounting manager will have contact with clients and client contacts such as tax accountant and other professional service providers.

Responsibilities:

  1. Overall day-to-day management of financial reporting accuracy and on-time processing of client information
  2.  Bank and other balance sheet reconciliations 
  3. Payroll reconciliations
  4. Review and approve account classifications
  5. Review G/L for any missing transactions and overall accuracy
  6. Preparation of Management Reporting Package each month
  7. Supervision and management of staff members

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  2. Prior bookkeeping experience required – accounts payables, accounts receivables, and payroll. Experience preparing payroll and sales tax returns strongly preferred  
  3. Prior experience managing staff 
  4. Strong technology skills
  5. Experience working in a paperless environment strongly preferred
  6. Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
  7. Team player with a positive “can-do” approach
  8. Ability to multi-task and work independently with minimal supervision
